A similar Species saving method is in place In Scotland. The Red Squirrel lives in high elevations in the Conifer elevations in the Highlands-where they subsist on the pine cone nuts. The only problem? The unquenchable thirst of Scotch Pine has caused habitat fragmentation. This has resulted in the Squirrels being forced onto the ground-where they are forced across roadways to other 'patches' of Forest that may contain a prospective mate. Usually with fatal outcomes! So ropes have been strung through key 'high traffic' areas!
