It's about time-Too late sadly for some! The Appalachian Chain, and The Great Smoky Mountains are not only a Natural Treasure, but the Biosphere is a World Heritage site, to remove and mine the tops of any portion of this Ecosystem, would have a catastrophic impact on the mountains, and an irrevokable affect on Flora and Fauna, both Migratory as well as Native. I LOVE this area, once you Hike it....it's got you!
