For those of you with some time indoors, here's MY recommended read Books:

Wandering About Nature Today-Here are 2 great books I recommend for those who like to read, or may be spending more time than usual indoors due to weather!

1. ORCA The Whale Called Killer, By Erich Holt
This is an insightful study of Orcas and their complex social system. The author becomes very familiar with the Pods as they return every year, and knows each individual, their social standing and their personalities. It is one of the unique long term studies that shines a light on these misunderstood animals. The study takes place near Vancover-in the Johnstone Strait and surrounding area. Also contains statistical information.

2.  Winter World, The Ingenuity of Animal Survival, By Bernd Heinrich
A great indepth study of how some animals survive most of the winter literally barely clinging to a thread, while others under the same conditions do not make it. The study takes place in the New England region where winter is both unrelenting, and unforgiving.
